Ali Haghiri
The University of Melbourne, VIC, Australia
Dr. Ali Haghiri is a Research Fellow in Infectious Diseases Modelling and Biostatistics under Prof. Julie Simpson at the Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. Prior to this role, Ali was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Machine Learning in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Melbourne, where he completed his Ph.D. in September 2017. More specifically, his current research focuses on mathematical modelling and statistical analysis of the interplay between antimalarial drug concentration and effect to assess the safety and efficacy of current and new antimalarial treatments. Ali contributes to the development of within-host models and associated statistical inference techniques to explain antimalarial drug action, including the development of an open-access web-based software tool for simulating malaria treatment outcomes. Ali’s research activities help pharmaceutical companies and research groups to accelerate drug discovery and development.
